Vic is the Director of Human Resources for R.B. Stewart Petroleum Products, Inc., located in Angleton, Texas. In this role, Vic manages all aspects of the human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, talent acquisition, staffing, onboarding, benefits, training and development, records management, employee relations and retention, EEO compliance, labor relations, and succession planning. As a Texas licensed attorney, Vic also provides R.B. Stewart Petroleum with legal advice, defense, and participates in the decision-making process of this rapidly growing company. Prior to joining R.B. Stewart Petroleum, Vic was a Senior Attorney and HR Generalist for a North Texas law firm while concurrently serving as the General Counsel for a North Texas church. In the past, Vic has owned a small law firm consisting of ten (10) attorneys, as well as serving as a Municipal Court Judge for a North Texas town. Prior to his legal career, Vic was a tactical police officer for the City of Fort Worth after serving and being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?
Just like anything else in life, practice makes perfect. No one is born with an innate ability to lead and help others; however, with proper training and support, you can learn how to truly master this skill for the benefit of your team and your company.
