Perhaps you’ve had this happen to you: a candidate spends many hours convincing you that they are dependable, reliable, and exactly what you are looking for, and then leaves you and your organization high and dry when you offer them the position. This is reneging, and we must understand why it happens in order to prevent it and respond appropriately.

Prior to this role, she served as SVP, Executive Recruiting Manager at Wells Fargo, where she led a team responsible for filling roles ranging from the C-suite to four levels down, and partnered with leaders across the organization to drive a successful talent strategy. Prior to Wells Fargo, Valerie drove recruiting efforts at Invesco, formerly OppenheimerFunds. She sees herself as a connector and finds great joy only in filling roles, but helping candidates find their next great opportunity.
What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?
Remember that the “H” stands for Human. There are many organizations that tend to forget that, but keep in mind that we are there to support the people.
