Susie is living her HR dream supporting the awesome humans that make up the incredible squad at a Colorado-based restaurant franchising and support company. She has experience in both the public and private sector, and discovered her love for HR in 2015. Her goal as an HR pro is to nurture the growth of everyone on the team to help them crush their professional goals, while also helping to ensure that the workplace is a safe space where folks can show up as their authentic selves and keep it real. When she's not doing all the HR things, you can find Susie going on adventures with her husband, at the barn with her horse Dandy, on a walk with her dog Chief, or with her nose in a Harry Potter book re-reading the series for the thousandth time (she's a proud Hufflepuff!).
What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?
The HR world is vast, and being new to HR can bring a mix of all the emotions from excitement to overwhelm. And we've all been on that rollercoaster! But remember that there is an abundance of resources to help you along the way. Stay curious, ask lots of questions, and lean into learning and growing into the areas of HR that excite you the most!
