After working in market research for several years, I made the career shift to HR. I still have a passion for marketing and branding, but have shifted it to the employer and employee side. I also enjoy people analytics, employee development, and culture development.

What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?

HR is way more diverse than people think. Ask for experiences and projects in different areas of HR so you can find what you like, where you excel, and to build your brand.


Perhaps you’ve had this happen to you: a candidate spends many hours convincing you that they are dependable, reliable, and exactly what you are looking for, and then leaves you and your organization high and dry when you offer them the position. This is reneging, and we must understand why it happens in order to prevent it and respond appropriately.
