What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?

The best of advice I was ever given was to learn the business you work for-who are your customers & competitors, what drives profit & performance, etc. then apply your HR expertise to add value. Be passionate, maximize your God given abilities, have a mindful, grateful attitude and always ask for help when you need it.
