Jordan has been developing selecting processes and promotional assents for public safety agencies for 17 years. Earning a Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, he has a wide range of knowledge for HR topics in general. Jordan earned his SPHR and enjoys learning new, innovative practices for creating, managing and retaining a skilled workforce.

What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?

Find the area of HR that you are really passionate about and learn everything you can about it through training and get yourself a good mentor to help guide your career path.

Reneging

Perhaps you’ve had this happen to you: a candidate spends many hours convincing you that they are dependable, reliable, and exactly what you are looking for, and then leaves you and your organization high and dry when you offer them the position. This is reneging, and we must understand why it happens in order to prevent it and respond appropriately.
