Beth is the Office/HR Manager for a growing center for autistic children. They recently added a second location plus a charter school. Beth started out in the billing department and after 1.5 years hired a billing manager due to the growing needs of the company so that she could focus more on the employee side of the business. She has enjoyed moving into this role and expanding her knowledge in this area.
What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?
Be consistent with policies. Always look for opportunities to further your HR knowledge. Be very organized and set systems and check lists in place for on boarding procedures, when someone gets married what all needs to be changed in a specific amount of time, check lists for terminations of things that need to be competed.
