Alison is the Human Resources Manager for a family owned engine and marine company based in St. Louis, Missouri. This is the first time Medart, Inc. has had an individual within the human resources space. She is excited to take on the challenge of creating a department from concept to reality! Alison has a diverse background, starting with employee benefits. She has held roles within all functions of HR, including the support of acquisitions and divestitures. She has strong technical and organizational skills. Outside of work, Alison enjoys volunteering in the local community as well as hiking and exploring. One of her favorite hobbies is reading proofs and providing feedback to authors before the books are published.
What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?
Build relationships with everyone, not just the leadership team. Find ways to relate as this will allow you to be seen as a real person by the employees.
