What words of advice and encouragement would you give to someone just starting out in HR?
HR is ever changing and no two days are the same. Always ask questions and never be afraid to make mistakes. If you’re comfortable, you’re not learning. Push yourself outside your comfort zone and find a mentor who is willing to take you under their wing and teach you. There are many sectors of HR and it’s important to know that you don’t need to choose a niche area. Being a generalist and learning the different aspects of HR is going to be a fantastic foundation for your career! HR is challenging but extremely rewarding!
